We know lightning. For over 40 years we have been dedicated to understanding the problems relating to the direct and indirect effects of lightning strikes, and solving them for our clients.

 

We have the equipment and expertise to test structures and systems with simulated lightning, but we are not simply a test house that carries out certification tests; as one of the world's leading lightning test and research establishments we have made significant contribution to the standards and best practices used in many applications, particularly in the aerospace sector. We have also carried out work within the wind power and oil and gas sectors.

 

In addition to simulating the direct effects of lightning strikes, we have the expertise to predict the levels of induced voltages which can cause damage to wiring and electronics within systems. In order to analyse these induced effects, we use our own bespoke computer simulation software which has been extensively validated with practical testing to ensure its effectiveness.
